Context for Learning
Our current ‘Context for Learning’ is Developing an Empire - The Romans. This unit has a focus on the Roman empire and its impact on Britain.
We will look at who the Romans were, why they invaded Britain, their legacy of town and road building, Hadrian's wall and who Boudica was.
In Geography, we will be continuing our learning about Europe, focussing on human and physical features of different countries, before looking at the structure of the earth, earthquakes and volcanoes.
Trips / residential visits
Our class residential is on Tuesday 7th - Wednesday 8th May 2024.
I am currently finalising a class trip linked in with our learning about the Romans, more information to come soon!

PE Days (When your child will require their PE kit)
During the Spring term, PE will be on a Thursday. Children may come to school wearing their PE kit; this should be dark shorts or PE trousers, trainers, a school or white t-shirt and a school jumper or school hoodie.
Swimming will be on a Friday and children need to come to school in their normal uniform with their swimming kit underneath. Please remember to bring a towel and underwear on Fridays!

Supporting at Home
Parents are the biggest influence on a child so it is hugely important that we work together to support each other.
Supporting your child with their reading, learning times tables and homework has a huge impact. This is hugely appreciated.
We encourage parents to take the time to talk to their child about what they have done in school and show an interest. Also, to become involved in school life by checking the school website, following Twitter, reading the school newsletters and checking for any announcements or messages on Seesaw.
Parents can make a huge contribution to the school by supporting the PTA and attending events such as the Christmas fair.
Remember we are here to support each other so we encourage you to contact the school and speak to the class teacher if you are worried about anything.
At the end of Summer Term 2, Y4 children will be taking part in the MTC - multiplication tables check, further details about this can be found on the attachment below.
