Our Ofsted Inspection

Outstanding Behaviour, Personal Development and Early Years

Christleton Primary School was inspected by Ofsted on 15 and 16 October 2024. We are incredibly proud that Ofsted recognised so many significant strengths across our school, with three areas judged to be Outstanding:

  • Behaviour and Attitudes – Outstanding

  • Personal Development – Outstanding

  • Early Years Provision – Outstanding

The Quality of Education and Leadership and Management were both judged to be Good.

Under Ofsted arrangements introduced in September 2024, schools inspected under this framework were no longer given a single overall effectiveness grade. Our previous overall inspection judgement, from 2014, was Outstanding.

A happy school where children thrive

The inspection report captures many of the qualities that make Christleton Primary School such a special place for children to learn and grow.

Ofsted described Christleton as “a happy school”, recognising that pupils enjoy learning, feel safe and benefit from caring relationships with staff. Inspectors found that children are courteous, caring and supportive of one another and are proud to belong to the school.

The report particularly highlighted:

  • Outstanding behaviour and attitudes, with pupils' behaviour described as “exemplary”. Children respond positively to the school's high expectations, work hard, take pride in their learning and enjoy their lessons.

  • Outstanding personal development, with pupils extremely well prepared for life in modern Britain. Children develop a strong understanding of diversity, democracy and the differences between people, while benefiting from a wide range of clubs, responsibilities and opportunities.

  • Outstanding Early Years provision, where children settle quickly into school life, benefit from an ambitious curriculum and are exceptionally well prepared for Key Stage 1.

  • A broad and ambitious curriculum, with reading at its heart and carefully sequenced knowledge across subjects.

  • Strong early reading and phonics, supported by skilled and knowledgeable staff and exposure to a wide range of high-quality books.

  • Strong mathematics provision, helping pupils to leave Christleton as confident mathematicians.

  • Skilled teachers who benefit from a comprehensive programme of professional development.

  • Effective support for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), enabling children to access the same ambitious curriculum as their peers.

  • A rich range of opportunities beyond the classroom, including our outdoor learning environment, Forest School experiences, educational visits, residentials, clubs and pupil leadership opportunities.

  • Effective safeguarding arrangements and strong relationships between pupils, staff and families.

We are delighted that the report reflects our commitment to helping every child “Be The Best You Can Be” and recognises the happy, caring and ambitious school community of which we are so proud.
